Welcombo

Eight people, one vibe. The Welcombo is a collaboration of eight musicians from six different nationalities, all sharing one goal: to captivate audiences with global grooves. Whether with melodies from the Balkans, Syria, Tajikistan, or Ireland – the Welcombo knows the music of the world and lovingly blends the various musical influences of its band members together.

Here, Ukrainian polyphonic singing meets Syrian microtonality, and Irish storytelling meets odd rhythms. The musicians don’t just play their pieces with virtuosity. They play with a passion for making music together and with joy in experimenting and discovering new sonic possibilities. Musical differences are explored with as much dedication as similarities.

All musicians are skilled in intercultural music-making as they originiate from the Welcome Music Session, the first global jam session of the Hamburger Zinnschmelze. The Welcombo proves that all musics can harmonize when musicians listen to each other and give space. In doing so, they set an example for open, respectful collaboration.
